We started Kimber Gardens in January 2023 after developing a deep and profound passion for growing, harvesting and preserving our own food, making medicinal products, raising chickens and being beekeepers.
We have been together since 2014 and have a wonderful blended family with two children and two grandchildren. We bought our home in 2016 and have been steadily making updates and improvements to it ever since. We have 6 acres of beautiful property nestled on the back side of capital forest, surrounded by nature, local wildlife and a year round creek. In 2020, we kicked our garden journey into overdrive and haven't looked back. We have a greenhouse and several garden areas for vegetables, berries, flowers, medicinal plants and an orchard, which is also our apiary. We started beekeeping last year with two hives and have expanded to four this year.
In addition to these wonderfully rewarding hobbies, we both have day jobs. Chad has owned and operated a successful flooring installation business for over 25 years and is also a General Falconer with a red-tailed hawk named Jay. Stef has a diverse 20 year background specializing in medical billing, administration, marketing, advertising, strategic planning, payroll, staff management and you guessed it, gardening!
Our mixed flock of blue, green, pink and brown egg layers are raised naturally, fed organically and have plenty of room to roam and forage.
Having a Lavender Ameraucana rooster with our ladies gives us a beautiful assortment of Easter Egger, Olive Egger and Ameraucana hatching eggs.
We have a variety of organically grown plant starts available, including but not limited to vegetables, fruit, herbs, flowers, medicinal plants and more..
One of our proudest staples are all our medicinal plants. We have starts, fresh and air dried flowers, berries, leaves and roots.
From seed to harvest, everything we use is as organic as possible. This includes the soil, compost, mulch, homemade fertilizers and pest management products.
We will have fresh and air dried herbs available throughout the season including rosemary, sage, oregano, basil, parsley, cilantro, dill, mint, fennel and more.
As the Summer progresses, will have an assortment of beautiful fresh cut flowers including roses, dahlias, cosmos, snapdragons, bachelor buttons, hollyhocks and more!
We love our bees and hope they have the resources to make enough honey for themselves and provide some extra for us to share. This will be entirely dependent on them.
We are grateful to have had the opportunity to host a Summer camp in 2024. Due to work and schedule changes, we will not be able to offer Summer camp this year, but we may need some apprentice helpers a couple days a week.
